| Worker bees make Royal Jelly
to feed the queen bee. This milky white gelatinous substance is secreted in the
salivary glands of worker bees to stimulate the growth and development of queen
bees. All larvae are fed small amount of Royal Jelly mixed with generous
amounts of honey for their first three days. On the fourth day, the quantity
and quality of the food for the general population is dramatically reduced, and
worker bees develop from this new diet. One baby bee is fed a continuous diet
of rich Royal Jelly to become a Queen bee. Queen bees can live up to 6 years
and lay around 2,000 eggs per day. By contrast the worker bee lives for about 6
weeks. The astonishing longevity, fertility, and endurance of the Queen bee is
entirely due to her exclusive diet of nutrient-rich Royal Jelly |
| Royal Jelly is a nutritious
food that is taken by an increasing number of people as an alternative
nutritional supplement. High in certain fatty acids, simple carbohydrates, and
pantothenic acid, it also contains other B vitamins, essential amino acids, and
more than 12 important minerals including iron, calcium, silicon, sulfur, and
potassium. Royal Jelly also contains about 36% of proteins and other important
elements including collagen and lecithin. |
Although unsubstantiated,
Royal Jelly is used to support weight loss, as it is an energizing nutrient,
with a very high nutritional value per calorie. Additionally, it is used to
treat fatigue, insomnia, digestive disorders, ulcers, and cardiovascular
conditions.* Royal Jelly has been shown to help lower blood
cholesterol levels. 50-100 mg. per day has been used in most of the studies on
cholesterol lowering. It has been demonstrated as an antibacterial agent in
test tube studies. Other preliminary evidence suggests it may promote wound
healing and strengthen the immune system. |

Caution: Bee products
may cause allergic reactions in some people. Even those people without
previously known allergies need to be aware of the signs and symptoms of an
allergic reaction, and what to do if one occurs. Allergies can develop in
anyone. Symptoms can begin within a few minutes to several hours after
ingesting the product. The typical reaction is runny nose, itching and puffy
eyes, skin reactions of rash or hives, wheezing, and shortness of breath. First
time reactions can be frightening and immediate medical attention is required.
Panic can make things worse. Known asthmatics should take their Rescue
Medication and seek medical attention immediately. Individuals who have
allergies to bee venom may be sensitive to an array of related substances,
including royal jelly. We recommend against taking this if you suffer from
asthma or anaphylaxis. If you have any concerns about taking bee related
product, we recommend you consult with your healthcare provider. |
